Will my Attested Document expire?
An attested document will not expire. Both the embassy stamp and FCDO apostille do not hold expiry dates and are valid indefinitely.
How do I know if a document has been certified?
Your UK document must be certified by either:
  1. A Solicitor or Notary Public in the UK
  2. An official of the British Council
When a Solicitor or Notary Public signs a document, it must include the following:
  1. Sign the document in the UK
  2. State the action taken e.g. witnessed, certified a copy, confirmed as original
  3. Use their personal signature, not a company signature
  4. Include the date of certification
  5. Include their name and company address
Can I get the documents attested myself?

This process can be undertaken by yourself, however, you may incur additional fees such as solictor certification and the travel or postage to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in Hanslope Park.
The premium service (one day service) is only available for registered businesses.
Once your document has arrived back from the FCDO you can present your document to the embassy/consulate during submission hours and return back for collection.
We save our clients time and money, as we have a dedicated team travelling across the country to the FCDO and embassies on a daily basis.

UK Crown Dependencies (CD) includes Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey

If your document is from one of the UK Overseas territories mentioned above, your document will need to be verified by a Notary Public, which will incur an additional fee.
