The inauguration of NEOM’s new office at Chancery House in the heart of Holborn marks a significant milestone in the organisation’s ongoing endeavours to broaden its global presence. NEOM has already forged numerous prosperous partnerships with entities based in the UK, underscoring the momentum behind its international expansion efforts.

The official inauguration ceremony commenced with the Saudi Ambassador to the UK, Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz; Deputy Prime Minister of the UK Oliver Dowden CBE MP, and CEO of NEOM Nadhmi Al-Nasr.

While addressing the attendees Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz said: “NEOM aims to transform how people around the world live and work, and the opening of its office in London provides a platform to introduce the project and its global importance to UK investors, organisations and innovators who share its vision and ethos… to accelerate human progress and deliver a new future for all.”

This milestone underscores the evolving dynamics between Saudi Arabia and the UK, as well as the broader European Union. London emerges as a central hub for NEOM’s European endeavours, fostering collaborative efforts, economic partnerships, and potential avenues for growth.

Below is a thorough guide covering all you need to know regarding NEOM.

What is NEOM?

NEOM, arguably the most extensive architectural project globally, is an ambitious project led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Designated as a vast development zone within the country, NEOM is envisioned as a dynamic region housing numerous cities, resorts, and diverse developments. This ambitious initiative aligns with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2023 plan, seeking to diversify the nation’s economy and reduce its dependence on oil.

Geographical scope of NEOM

NEOM encompasses an area of around 10,200 square miles in northwestern Saudi Arabia. The area is bounded by the Red Sea to the south and the Gulf of Aqaba to the West.

The Development Blueprint

NEOM is said to consist of 10 projects that they refer to as regions. So far, details of four of the regions have been announced. These are: The Line, which is the most well-known, as well as Oxagon, Trojena and Sindalah.

By 2026, NEOM is expected to house around 450,000 people, raising the number to 1.5 to 2 million people by 2030.

NEOM is envisioned to be a place that prioritises people and nature, focusing on self-sufficiency and its ambitious plan to become “the world’s most food self-sufficient country” with its current import rate at 80%. NEOM aims to do this by utilising innovative vertical farming and greenhouses. Moreover, the project incorporates cutting-edge technology, such as AI and robotics, to create a smart and efficient living environment.

In conclusion, NEOM’s London office launch represents a significant stride in its global expansion efforts, fostering partnerships and collaborations that transcend borders. As NEOM continues to unveil its ambitious projects and development plans, the international community eagerly anticipates the realisation of its vision, further solidifying its position as a groundbreaking initiative shaping the future of urban living and sustainability.
